AMELIA LORMAND
Director of Special Education, Tubman Montessori
Joined the Team in 2020

Amelia Lormand is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and has called New Orleans home for the past 12 years. Coming from a family of educators, she has been involved in advocacy and care for exceptional children and adults for over 10 years. She graduated from Tulane University with a BS in Environmental Biology, while she continued to involve herself in programs supporting children with exceptionalities, including working as a behavior technician for children with Autism. After pursuing post-grad ecological research and outdoor education, she was drawn back to the classroom through Xavier University’s Norman C. Francis Teacher Residency Master’s Program in 2019. A member of the Tubman Family since 2020, Amelia is proud to be a part of a team that strives towards excellence. Advocating for children with exceptionalities and ensuring their families are informed and equipped to navigate the world of Special Education is at the heart of Lormand’s work. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve this New Orleans community on the CCS Leadership Team.
