Angel Delandro

Angel Delandro is the Director of Student Support at Harriet Tubman Charter School. In this role, she supports special education staff to promote a high bar of rigor and increase student access to grade level learning. She also works in partnership with the Director of Special Education to ensure that students receive the highest quality of special education services, according to their individualized education program.
Angel has over 10 years of experience working in community based agencies, schools, and national organizations to ensure students with disabilities have access to high quality services. Her experience includes providing waiver support coordination services, teaching special education, school leadership, and SPED consulting. She has provided coaching and professional development to teachers, leaders, and school districts throughout the city of New Orleans, as well as developing and facilitating statewide conferences and national training on effective special education programming.
As a native New Orleanian and a product of Orleans Parish Public Schools, Angel began her education career in 2014 as a SPED teacher at L.D. Crocker College Prep, the same elementary school that she attended. She went on to win Rookie Teacher of the Year. She received her bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology from ULM and her master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Xavier University of Louisiana. She received her SPED and elementary teaching certification from TeachNOLA -TNTP Academy, a program which she eventually went on to lead. During her time at TNTP, she also directed the special education add-on certification program in Louisiana. Angel also served as the Director of Academic Strategy and Director of Professional Learning at SPED Strategies, a national organization which specializes in inclusive education, prior to joining the Tubman team.
