Assistant Principal, Tubman Montessori
Joined the Team in 2019

Alexandra Fontini is the Assistant Principal at Tubman Montessori. She first joined the Tubman Montessori staff in 2019 as an Enrichment teacher, creating Pre-K and Montessori music programs in the inaugural year of Tubman Montessori’s new campus. In 2023, she stepped into a Director of Intervention and Enrichment role where she concentrated on students’ reading growth, pioneering intervention systems and procedures that increased student literacy as well as coaching teachers on the efficacy of teaching phonics through the Science of Reading philosophy. As Director of Enrichment, she has fostered a love of creativity, athletics, and arts through Tubman Montessori’s unique Structured Morning Play Program. Under her leadership, Tubman Montessori has held countless student-led rallies, community outreach events, and performances where students are able to highlight academic and social/emotional success alike. Alexandra is excited to assume the role of Assistant Principal, where she will step into greater leadership responsibilities that include coaching teachers on excellence; propelling the school forward towards academic success in the great city of New Orleans, and beyond. Alexandra received a Bachelor of Music degree from Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Crescent City Schools, she was named Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts’ 2017 Teacher of the Year.
