Dean of Special Education, K-8
Kevin Lapinski studied at the University of New Orleans where he received his B.S. in Elementary Education (1-5) and Special Education (K-12). At UNO, Kevin interned in several charter schools, splitting time between general education settings and self-contained classrooms for students with mild and moderate disabilities. In July 2011, Kevin became a founding staff member of Harriet Tubman Charter School, serving as a 1st Grade teacher. Kevin spent two years developing and teaching in our K-1-2 multi-age program and co-leading the afternoon 1-2 program. During the 2013-2014 school year, 71% of the 2nd graders in his class met their reading goal. In 2014, the year he transitioned to being Dean of Special Education, Kevin’s team was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as having 100% Special Education compliance.
