Director of Finance and Operations
Pat Carrier is the Director of Finance and Operations at Harriet Tubman Charter School. He came to New Orleans in 2012 to be part of the management team assembled to re-launch G. W. Carver Senior High School – seeking to radically improve the academic outcomes for students while preserving the traditions of a renowned sports and band extracurricular program. He served as Carver’s Director of Finance and Operations for the 2012-2013 year during its startup period. Previously, he was the CEO/founder of a company that operated an acclaimed group of bookstores in Boston and Cambridge, MA; the stores specialized in travel and geographic reference materials. The company also launched the internet’s first e-commerce travel bookstore in the mid-1990′s. Prior to opening the bookstores, Pat served as an administrator overseeing a range of operations and building projects at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. Pat has served on a number of non-profit boards focusing on the book industry and historic preservation. He served as president and treasurer of the New England Booksellers Association and as a member of the Associates of the Boston Public Library board. He chaired the Council of Boston’s Freedom Trail Sites and served on the board of the Old South Meeting House. Pat was born in Chicago, grew up in Indianapolis, and graduated from Miami University (OH) with a B.A. in Political Philosophy.
