Director of Curriculum and Instruction, K-1-2
Lindsay received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in English from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. During college, she was a leader at the Center for Public Service which allowed her to manage a mentoring program for 6th-8th graders at a local middle school. Drawn by the education reform movement, Lindsay moved to New Orleans and taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade at Mary Coghill Elementary for five years. Lindsay joined the Harriet Tubman staff in 2012, helping to pilot the K12 program. In 2015, Lindsay and her colleagues increased Kindergarten readiness from 10% to 90% by October 1, and sent 70% of their Kindergarteners onto 1st grade reading on level. 78% of the Kindergarteners in her class met their reading goal by year’s end. As team leader on the K-1-2 team, she helped pilot the Montessori program in our K-1-2 grades and has seen increasing MAP scores in her classroom and the whole team as a result of her work. Lindsay received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist add-on from UNO.
