Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Math
Charlie DePietro attended Duke University in Durham, NC where he received a BA in French and History. After graduation, Charlie joined Teach for America in the Mississippi Delta as a sixth grade math teacher. He taught for two years at George Middle School in Carrollton, MS where he was recognized by the principal and county Superintendent for the growth his students made on their standardized tests. Charlie joined the Harriet Tubman team in 2012 as a 5th and 6th grade math teacher. During the 2014-2015 school year, 86% of Charlie’s 7th graders scored Basic on the iLEAP, making him the number one teacher in the district that year. In 2015-2016, 84% scored Basic and he was the second highest performing teacher in the district. This year, Charlie has assumed a new role at Tubman serving as the Math Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
